EARTH FUND
Aveda’s commitment to social and environmental improvement is a cornerstone of our corporate culture. This has been true since the company’s founding in 1978 and continues through the present. At Aveda, we see the following issues as the main threats to our earth’s future and our survival.
- Global Climate Change
- Air and Water Pollution
- Habitat Destruction
- Toxins in the Environment
- Waste Generation
Accomplishing our commitment to environmental and social improvement includes partnering with nonprofit organizations whose work addresses these key areas of concern. Through the Aveda Earth Fund Program, we make grants to support the important work of organizations focused on environmental protection and the preservation of the earth’s biodiversity.
Throughout the past decade, Aveda has provided grants to numerous organizations working on issues ranging from climate change to zero waste and habitat protection to environmental leadership.
Some of the organizations and programs that Aveda has supported through the years include the following:
- Conservation International and their programs aiming to increase economic incentives for conservation within Peru’s Tambopata National Reserve.
- GrassRoots Recycling Network and their zero waste initiatives.
- The Science Museum of Minnesota and their energy neutral “Science House”.
- Youth for Environmental Sanity and their work empowering young leaders to become involved in environmental and social change.
- The work of RARE to build sustainable ecotourism enterprises to preserve some the world’s most ecologically and culturally diverse but threatened places.
