ABOUT OUR EARTH MONTH CAMPAIGN
Each year during the month of April, Aveda salon and spa professionals, employees and guests work together to raise funds for grassroots organizations that protect biodiversity and address environmental issues around the world. The Earth Month campaign focuses on a specified environmental topic each year, helping to raise awareness around the issue, cultivate and educate supporters, and contribute funds to dedicated non-profit conservation organizations.
What started out as a day of awareness in 1990 has grown into a month-long international effort to involve the entire network in Earth Month activities. Salons, institutes, experience centers and offices are free to tailor their Earth Month effort according to their own strengths and creativity. Some contribute a portion of all sales that month, or work during a “Day of Beauty” when they’re not normally open and contribute all sales from that day. Others partner with local environmental groups to hold silent auctions, online auctions and fashion shows.
Each year, the proceeds benefit various environmentally-focused nonprofit groups, such as the Greenhouse Network, Clean Air-Cool Planet, Global Greengrants Fund, Chicago Wilderness, Potomac Conservancy, the Gulf Coast Restoration Network and more. Since 1999, Aveda has raised over $14.2 million dollars for over 70 Earth Month Partner organizations worldwide.
